Ten years passed between when the final new episode of Futurama aired on Comedy Central and the show's recent revival on Hulu.  However, Futurama executive producer Claudia Katz is hopeful that there will be more episodes beyond the show's initial 20-episode order.

Speaking to SFX Magazine, Katz acknowledged that the Futurama production team was always conscious of the fact that any given season could be the show's last. However, they were equally hopeful that each season's finale would not be a series finale.

"We had the privilege of doing 52 episodes for Comedy Central, which was fantastic. These days, you can’t assume that you’re going to be able to finish on your own terms. So that led to the writers being very conscientious about always doing a season finale, and not taking anything for granted. And that is still true to this day. We’re doing these 20 episodes, and I think everybody is really hopeful and optimistic that we’ll get to do more. But in the same way, each season has a season and (hopefully not) series finale."

Katz also confirmed that the new revival would continue Futurama's tradition of having three-part story arcs.

"We have one per season, and they’re really a fun way to spin our characters and take on different universes. I think those are both really, really fun."

Futurama is an animated science-fiction sitcom series created by Matt Groening of Simpsons fame.  The first four seasons aired on Fox from 1999-2003.

Comedy Central began airing reruns following the show's cancellation and then officially signed on for more installments in 2009. Seasons 5-9 aired on the cable channel from 2009-2013.

Ten years later, Hulu signed on for 20 new episodes spread across two seasons of 10 episodes each. The first batch of 10 kicked off on July 24, 2023, and will conclude on September 25, 2023.  It's currently not known when the last 10 episodes of the revival will air.

New episodes of Futurama season 11 drop every Monday, on Hulu.
