Ashley Eckstein has played Ahsoka Tano since the character was first introduced all the way back in 2008. First featuring in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Eckstein reprised the role in Star Wars Rebels and even briefly featured in Star Wars: Episode IX — The Rise of Skywalker.
Last month, rumours surfaced which claimed that someone else will soon be taking on the role. What's more, they will be playing Ahsoka in live-action in the second season of Disney+ series The Mandalorian. It's thought that Rosario Dawson is that person — more on that here. However, Eckstein has a message for whoever takes on the role — be it Dawson or otherwise.
Essentially, the voice actor wants whoever plays Ahsoka to realise the significance of the character. "Any new actress that would step into Ahsoka's shoes, I would say I just hope she realizes what Ahsoka means to people, because Ahsoka has changed lives. She's saved lives," the actress told Looper.
"So, I would just ask that anyone that joins Team Tano recognizes how important she is to so many people, and they do their best to continue to carry on her legacy."
Eckstein did admit that she's slightly disappointed that she likely won't have anything to do with the character's involvement in The Mandalorian; "it's my dream to always be involved with Ahsoka. I'd be lying if I said it wasn't." However, she recognises that Ahsoka is bigger than just her — as she went on the explain.
"It's never been just me bringing Ahsoka to life. It's always been a group of people. I call it Team Tano, and it's everything from [Clone Wars supervising director] Dave Filoni and the directing, to the animators, to the writers, to the music, to the lighting, to be bringing the voice."
