Onward is an upcoming animated film by Disney and Pixar. Dan Scanlon (
Monsters University) serves as director while Tom Holland (
Spider-Man: Far From Home) and Chris Pratt (
Avengers: Endgame) star. The duo play a pair of elvish brothers who embark on a magical quest to resurrect their late father — for at least a little while.
The voice cast also includes Julia Louis-Dreyfus (
Seinfeld), Octavia Spencer (
The Help), Mel Rodriguez (
The Last Man on Earth), Lena Waithe (
The Chi), and Ali Wong (
Always Be My Maybe). Recently, clips from the animated movie have begun to surface online —
you can check out the first of them here.
The film will arrive in theatres on March 6th and is set to be yet another enthralling, emotional masterpiece by Pixar. That's at least what early social media reactions are saying. Some influencers and journalists were recently privy to an early screening of
Onward. Most of them shared what they thought of the movie on Twitter.
It seems that
Onward manages to both pack an emotional punch and also deliver the laughs. Apparently, Onward will make you cry and will be particularly affecting to those with or wanting fathers. Additionally, it's said that
Onward features the first openly LGBT character in Pixar history — though their role apparently isn't quite as substantial as you may hope.

Set in a suburban fantasy world, two teenage elf brothers, Ian and Barley Lightfoot, go on a journey to discover if there is still a little magic left out there in order to spend one last day with their father, who died when they were too young to remember him.
Onward will arrive in theaters on March 6th, 2020.
