Based on the 1998 animated classic of the same name; Mulan tells the tale of a fearless, young woman who takes it upon herself to take her ailing father's place amid the Imperial Army. Liu Yifei stars as the titular character.

The cast also includes Donnie Yen plays Commander Tung, Jason Scott Lee plays Böri Khan, Yoson An plays Cheng Honghui, Gong Li plays Xianniang and Jet Li plays The Emperor. Niki Caro serves as director. Speaking of Caro; the director recently took to social media (@NikiCaro) to officially announce that the live-action remake will no longer arrive in theatres on March 27th.

Just weeks away from release, Disney has officially delayed Mulan on account of concerns to do with the ongoing Coronavirus outbreak. This disease has been going on since December and countless theatrical runs have been affected on account of it — some theatres have even completely closed up shop until the disease subsides as audiences simply aren't showing up.

Not wanting to draw out crowds that could potentially infect people (nor risk their box office numbers); the delay is totally understandable. A new release date hasn't yet been announced but it's said that Disney are eyeing a later date within 2020. We will be sure to inform you when a new date is confirmed.

Dear Mulan Fans, Making this film has been one of the most satisfying and exhilarating experiences of my entire career, and I’ve been so fortunate to be on this journey with some of the best cast and crew in the business – people who truly embody the attributes of Loyal, Brave, and True. We are so excited to share this film with the world, but given the current ever-shifting circumstances we are all experiencing, unfortunately, we have to postpone the worldwide release of MULAN for now. Our hearts are with everyone the world over who is affected by this virus, and we hope that Mulan’s fighting spirit will continue to inspire those who are working so hard to keep us all safe. Thank you for all of your enthusiasm and support, and I can’t wait for the day where we will all get to experience this tale of a girl warrior who became a legend together #mulan #yifei_cc #loyalbravetrue With love, Niki Caro

When the Emperor of China issues a decree that one man per family must serve in the Imperial Army to defend the country from Northern invaders, Hua Mulan, the eldest daughter of an honored warrior, steps in to take the place of her ailing father. Masquerading as a man, Hua Jun, she is tested every step of the way and must harness her inner-strength and embrace her true potential. It is an epic journey that will transform her into an honored warrior and earn her the respect of a grateful nation…and a proud father.

Mulan is aiming for a 2020 release.
