Disney's forthcoming live-action remake of Mulan, based on the 1998 animated classic of the same name, was originally set to debut in theatres back in March. However, the release was indefinitely delayed on account of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Not that long ago, it was announced that Mulan will instead debut on Disney's streaming service.
However, Mulan won't be available to stream on Disney+ in the traditional sense to regular subscribers but rather to those with "Premier Access." That is to say, those who pay an additional $29.99 on top of their subscription cost. When will Mulan will be available on Disney+ with Premier Access? Well, on September 4th (and on December 4th without Premier Access).
What with release imminent, Disney has released an action-packed special look at the live-action remake. You can check out this special look below courtesy of the official Disney+ Twitter account (@DisneyPlus). It shows off Mulan and the Imperial Army taking on Northern Invaders with some spectacularly inventive action.
Mulan is about a fearless, young woman who takes her ailing father's place as a part of the Imperial Army (as each family must contribute at least one soldier). The cast includes Liu Yifei as the titular warrior as well as Donnie Yen plays Commander Tung, Jason Scott Lee plays Böri Khan, Yoson An plays Cheng Honghui, Gong Li plays Xianniang and Jet Li plays The Emperor.
When the Emperor of China issues a decree that one man per family must serve in the Imperial Army to defend the country from Northern invaders, Hua Mulan, the eldest daughter of an honored warrior, steps in to take the place of her ailing father. Masquerading as a man, Hua Jun, she is tested every step of the way and must harness her inner-strength and embrace her true potential. It is an epic journey that will transform her into an honored warrior and earn her the respect of a grateful nation…and a proud father.
Mulan will be available to stream on Disney+ with Premier Access on September 4th, 2020.
