Last December, we learned the unfortunate news that Disney's reboot of DuckTales will be ending after its third season. That time is almost upon as Disney has announced the dates of the finale episodes, including the epic 90-minute Series Finale that will air on Monday, March 15 at 7:00 p.m. EDT/PDT.
Fans still have three more episodes to catch before the grand finale. New episodes will debut every Monday, starting February 22. Here are the episode titles, brief synopses, and dates for each:
February 22
Beaks in the Shell
"Fenton teams with Gandra Dee on a top-secret experiment"
March 1
The Lost Cargo of Kit Cloudkicker
"A new (but familiar) ally helps find treasure on an island full of monsters"
March 8
The Life and Crimes of Scrooge McDuck
"In a mystical karmic court, Scrooge's enemies accuse him of making them evil."
March 15
The Last Adventure (90-minute Series FInale)
"The family must stop Fowl's plot to end their adventures once and for all."
Disney XD will also present a week-long DuckTales marathon that will feature every aired episode beginning on March 8 at 7:30 p.m. EST/PST. This is the perfect way to catch up on the great series if you aren't subscribed to Disney+. Additionally, three new "Chibi Tiny Tales" shorts will begin rolling out on Friday, February 26 on Disney XD, DIsneyNOW, and Disney Channel YouTube.
Following its premiere, the DuckTales series finale special will encore non-stop for 24 hours. Disney provided a much more in-depth synopsis for the finale, which sounds like quite the big adventure. Guest stars Lin-Manuel Miranda, Giancarlo Esposito, Julie Bowel, Jaime Camil, Jameela Jamil and many more will return as their characters.
In the finale titled "The Last Adventure!," the future of adventuring hangs in the balance as the Duck family uncovers earth-shattering secrets in a final standoff with the Fiendish Organization for World Larceny (F.O.W.L.). Returning guest voices include Lin-Manuel Miranda, Giancarlo Esposito, Julie Bowen, Jaime Camil, Jameela Jamil, Catherine Tate, Stephanie Beatriz, Paul F. Tompkins, Jim Rash, Margo Martindale, Jason Mantzoukas, John Hodgman, Retta, Kimiko Glenn, Libe Barer, Jaleel White and Amy Sedaris. Noël Wells and Riki Lindhome guest star as sisters, June and May, respectively.
Executive producers Matt Youngberg and Francisco Angones had been pretty quiet around the time it was first announced that DuckTales had been ending, but with the finale right around the corner, the two issued an emotional joint statement:
"It has been an absolute honor to adventure along with the Duck Family for three seasons of derring-do bad and good luck tales. Ever since Carl Barks took a silly squawking duck from a funny animal cartoon and sent him looking for pirate gold, these characters have been part of a constantly evolving legacy of invention and reinvention.
We set out to honor all those things that we've loved about DuckTales since we were kids and introduce new parts of that legacy for families around the globe. Along the way, our stellar crew, unbelievable cast and endlessly supportive fans have become a bit of a family ourselves. It's been a great joy to solve mysteries and rewrite history alongside them."
When it's all said and done, the DuckTales reboot, which first debuted in 2017, will have run for 75 episodes and more than 15 shorts. The award-winning series has reached over 234 million views across social media and YouTube and is the No. 1 ratings driver on Disney XD in the United States.
In recognition of the culminating episode, the cast of DuckTales got together (virtually) for a dramatic reading of the iconic main title song. Join the cast -- David Tennant (Scrooge McDuck), Danny Pudi (Huey), Ben Schwartz (Dewey), Bobby Moynihan (Louie), Kate Micucci (Webby Vanderquack), Beck Bennett (Launchpad McQuack), Toks Olagundoye (Mrs. Beakley), and Paget Brewster (Della Duck) -- for one last woo-oo.
The good news is that you can continue watching DuckTales even after it ends as every season is available to stream on DIsney+.
