Since its widespread release in September, retailers have struggled with supply for Disney Lorcana. The collectible trading card game from Ravensburger has been in high demand and short supply, resulting in skyrocketing prices among second-hand resellers.
Shortly after the game's big-box retailer release, Ravensburger took to social media to confirm plans for a reprint of the first set, The First Chapter. However, this reprint wasn't expected to hit store shelves until early 2024.
In an updated comment to Comicbook.com, Ravensburger has now confirmed that the reprint will arrive earlier than expected. It's now expected to be available by "Holiday 2023" in North America and January 2024 in Europe.
Ravensburger also confirmed that the reprint will include the upcoming second set, Rise of the Floodborn.
Rise of the Floordborn was revealed a few weeks ago. It will introduce 200 new cards to the game, including fan-favorite characters like Winnie the Pooh and Tiana, as well as artwork inspired by six additional Disney stories: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Pinocchio, Zootopia, The Great Mouse Detective, The Jungle Book, and Raya and the Last Dragon.
It's likely that Set 2 will see similar supply shortages at retailers upon its release in November, but hopefully, it will be addressed quickly by the reprint. Unfortunately, we don't have exact quantity sizes for the reprint.
"We cannot discuss quantities, but our goal has always been to get as much product into the hands of fans as possible, and we are continuing to work with our suppliers to increase production to better meet demand as quickly as possible," Ryan Miller, Senior Brand Manager and Disney Lorcana TCG co-designer at Ravensburger, told the site. "I can confirm that the reprint will include both starter decks and booster packs."
We also don't know how the reprint will be allocated between hobby stores and mass retailers, although Miller did say that "supporting Independent Hobby retailers with Disney Lorcana TCG continues to be our #1 priority."
Like The First Chapter, the Rise of the Floordborn set will first arrive at local game stores starting November 17. This will be followed by a wider release at big box retailers like Target, Best Buy and GameStop, on December 1st. With a Holiday 2023 release window for the reprint, we'll hopefully have ample supply of Disney Lorcana cards for the holidays, as it figures to be one of this year's hottest card game gifts.
