ABOUT YOUNG JUSTICE: OUTSIDERS
Cartoon Network debuted the first season of Young Justice back in November 2010 as part of an hour-long special. The original line-up or Robin, Artemis, Miss Martian, Kid Flash, Superboy and Aqulad served as a covert, black-ops team for the Justice League. Most notably, the version fo Aqualad, Kaldur'ahm, was an original character created by Weisman and Vietti, who has since become a mainstay of the DC Comics Universe.Garth, the original Aqualad from the comics, would appear as a guest character in a Kaldur'ahm-centric episode.
The show's second season was titled Young Justice: Invasion and featured older members of the Young Justice mentoring a new crop of teenage heroes and sidekicks. New members included Beast Boy, Blue Beetle, Bumblebee, Lagoon Boy, Batgirl, Impulse, Arsenal and Static Shock.
After 2 seasons spanning 46 episodes, Young Justice was canceled, with the final episode airing March 2013. Both Young Justice and Green Lantern: The Animated Series had their time slots filed by new shows, Teen Titans GO! and Beware the Batman.
In later years, it was revealed that the show was funded primarily through a deal with Mattel. With the toys and action figures not selling, Mattel chose to not renew their deal with Cartoon Network, resulting in the series' cancellation.
Staff and voice actors for the show continued to support fan campaigns calling for the show's revival and urged Netflix subscribers to watch the show and use its viewership numbers to convince the streaming platform to revive it. For a time, it was believed that Young Justice: Outsiders would be airing on Netflix but DC Entertainment surprised many with the reveal of its own streaming platform, DC Universe.
