THE SIMPSONS Producer Shuts Down Reports That The Long-Running Series Is Coming To An End
Following some disconcerting comments from Danny Elfman, who composed the show's iconic theme, producer Al Jean has commented on recent reports that The Simpsons may be coming to an end. More past the jump.
After 30 years, and with 31 seasons under its years, The Simpsons has earned its position as a pop culture staple. So it was understandable when fans of the long-running animated series made a ruckus when composer Danny Elfman said he heard the show was coming to an end.
However, after numerous sites, including Toonado, began reporting on the seemingly gloomy status of The Simpsons, producer Al Jean decided to take to his personal Twitter account to officially comment on the situation.
"We are all thankful the following article is NOT TRUE," Jean wrote, referring to an article by The Guardian, which also reported that the series may be on its last legs. Considering how simple and to the point the producer was in his tweet, it seems to safe to say that the show's future is not in doubt.
Created by Matt Groening and developed by James L. Brooks, Groening and Sam Simon, The Simpsons was recently renewed for its 31st and 32nd seasons, and after Disney's acquisition of Fox, nearly every episode is available to stream on Disney+.
