The Co-Creator Of YOUNG JUSTICE: OUTSIDERS Says Season 3 Will Tell A Darker And More Mature Story
Young Justice: Outsiders will see the return of the fan-favorite series, and after two well-received seasons, the upcoming third season is expected to tell the darkest story in the show's history.
Before being cancelled back in 2013, the popular Young Justice series aired two beloved seasons on Cartoon Network, but the third season will air on the upcoming DC Universe streaming service.
So it's not surprising that some fans are wondering how - or if - Season 3 will differ from the show's previous outings now that it has a new home. Fortunately, for these fans, in an interview with Nerdist, co-creator Greg Weisman revealed that the streaming platform has different practices and standards than the cable network.
"Because we’re on a streaming service and we’re not on Cartoon Network, we don’t have Cartoon Network’s standards and practices. Departments can’t tell us what we can and can’t do. That has freed us up, and this season is more mature. It’s a little darker. Definitely delves deep into our characters and it also allows us to delve deeper into the DC universe.”
In other words, the DC Universe has given the creative minds behind Young Justice: Outsiders a lot of freedom, which allows them to tell a story that's darker and more mature than past seasons.
It will be interesting to see how much darker the show gets, especially since the program already has a record of handling its storylines with a maturity that makes it accessible to viewers of all ages.
