Star Wars: The Clone Wars introduced many new character, some of which being Clone Troopers, who quickly became fan-favourites - one of which was Commander Wolffe. Writer Henry Gilroy recently teased, via popular YouTube Creator Star Wars Explained, that Wolffe actually carried out the nefarious order of Emperor Palpatine and helped eradicate the Jedi.
Star Wars Explained recently tweeted what he learned from Gilroy about the leader of the Wolfpack: "According to Henry Gilroy, Wolffe likely carried out Order 66 and removed his chip afterwards."
The beloved animated series took place within the space of time between Star Wars: Attack of the Clones and Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, the iconic Order 66 scene being from the latter.
In Clone Wars' successive series Star Wars Rebels, a couple of fan-favourite Clone Troopers made a re-appearance: Rex, Gregor, and Wolffe. With Rebels taking place after the events of Revenge of the Sith, the Troopers revealed that they'd removed their inhibitor chips (embedded devices which urged troopers to follow their orders unabashedly). This was evidently not the case for Wolffe and explains why he was so antsy when first meeting with, former Jedi Knight, Kanan.
With Star Wars: The Clone Wars set to return next year on Disney Play, perhaps we'll learn more about this interesting tidbit. What do you think about this revelation?
