Rick and Morty is no doubt one of the world's favourite animated comedy series right now - it's got the humour, it's got the heart. It's so good that it takes about a year and half to produce a new season.
One unfortunate drawback of the accliaimed series is how long it takes the creators to pump out new episodes - the wait between the second and third seasons being a whopping 18 months.
Thankfully, according to Justin Roiland, the show's creator along with partner Dan Harmon, the long spans of time between seasons will be drastically cut down in the future - seeing as they're officially locked in for many more in the future - check out what he told Polygon:
We‘re super excited that, for the first time ever, we’re locked in, we know what the future is, we have job security. Harmon is in great spirits, we have a great writer’s room. We want the episodes to stay good, but we do also want to try to turn them around a little quicker now that we have this big order, I think it gives us the ability to be faster.
We’re not going to do these long breaks, these chasms in between seasons anymore. We’re going to schedule vacation time and just keep the machine going. It’s going to be really cool.
Roiland went on to tease some exciting and bizarre ideas to come in the upcoming season:
It’s exciting, it’s a little surreal. Even just being in the writers room for half the day every day this week, the ideas are ... it’s going to be great.
Earlier this year it was announced that Rick and Morty has been renewed for 70 episodes - which is significant considering each previous season of the show consisted of only 10 episodes - which means the show will reach a tenth season and perhaps extend even further than that.
Not having to wait as long for new seasons is obviously a very exciting prospect to fans - but what do you think?
