In just over two weeks, both
Pokémon Sword and
Pokémon Shield will become available exclusively for the Nintendo Switch. Developed by Game Freak and Nintendo, we've seen quite a bit of exciting footage from the upcoming
Pokémon games. However, Game Freak only recently revealed exactly how long they should take the average player to beat.
According to Shigeru Ohmori, the director of the upcoming games, it should take about 150 hours to totally complete the game. However, if you're more casual and less likely to want to complete the entire Pokédex, your playtime should clock in at about 50 hours.
Here's what Ohmori told
Game Informer and how much content
Pokémon Sword and
Pokémon Shield will contain:
I think it’s hard to go into details of that, but in terms of the volume or the amount of content in the main adventure, it’s comparable to other Pokemon generations that we’ve played. I think there’s a lot of interesting activities that, for example, completing the Pokédex or really going out into the Wild Area and engaging with those mechanics, that’ll add a lot of replay value for players who are looking to get really hardcore into that.
Despite that we've still got a fortnight to go until both
Pokémon Sword and
Pokémon Shield release, you can now pre-load either or each of the games from the Nintendo eShop. This will save you valuable download time come release, which could instead be spent taking on Pokémon and building up your Pokédex (via
Gamefragger).
Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield will be set in Galar, an expansive region with many environments—idyllic countryside, contemporary cities, thick forests, and craggy, snow-covered mountains. The people and Pokémon live together in this region, and they’ve worked together to develop the industries here.
Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield will be available for the Nintendo Switch on November 15th, 2019.
