Launching all the way back in 2016, Pokémon GO skyrocketed in success shortly after its launch on both iOS and Android devices. However, it seemed that the hype surrounding Niantic's mobile game died down over the course of the following months. It turns out that isn't the case.

Sensor Tower (via Gamefragger) recently reported that Pokémon GO is actually performing better than it ever has. Apparently, the popular mobile game earned more money during 2019 than any of its previous years online. It's estimated that Pokémon GO earned $894 million last year. Only the $832 million earned in 2016 comes close to that amount.

In 2017, Pokémon GO didn't perform well at all — having only earned $589 million — but the mobile game has had a resurgence of sorts since 2018 — wherein it earned $816 million. Given that the game is free, all this financial gain comes from player spending — as is mentioned in Sensor Tower's tweet on the subject which you can check out below.
