Pokémon Matome has revealed that
Pokémon developer Game Freak and Creatures Inc. have seemingly parted ways, as the latter no longer appears on Game Freak's list of partners.
The reason why this is relevant is because Creatures Inc. has been affiliated with Game Freak and The Pokémon Company, in charge of making the 3D models for
Pokémon games, since
Pokémon Stadium released for the Nintendo 64 in the late 90s.
Prior to the release of
Pokémon Sword and
Pokémon Shield, fans were disappointed to know that the developers were not going to be featuring the entire Pokédex, and the reason for this was — according to Game Freak — because it was too time-consuming and demanding to make models for every Pokémon.
The problem here is that players discovered that Game Freak had lied to them, since
Pokémon Sword and
Pokémon Shield feature reused 3D models that the developers had used in past games; meaning that there was no reason to cut Pokémon from the games' Pokédex.
Game Freak and The Pokémon Company have yet to confirm that they are no longer affiliated with Creatures Inc., but it seems that fan outrage could've been the straw that broke the camel's back.
Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield will be set in Galar, an expansive region with many environments—idyllic countryside, contemporary cities, thick forests, and craggy, snow-covered mountains. The people and Pokémon live together in this region, and they’ve worked together to develop the industries here.
Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield are currently available exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
