A recent report by Deadline has revealed that Netflix has greenlit production of the second season of the animated preschool series Llama Llama. Jennifer Garner will be returning in the lead role as Mama Llama.
Season one debuted on Netflix in January of this year across the world and therefore in a multitude of languages - twenty to be specific. With season already in development, it was announced that two 30-minute Llama Llama specials are in the works - one in particular relating to Mother's Day.
The second season has wrangled a cast of award-winning producers, including Jane Startz (Ella Enchanted, Tuck Everlasting, The Indian In The Cupboard, The Magic School Bus series), Andy Heyward (Inspector Gadget, The Real Ghostbusters, Strawberry Shortcake, Madeline, Carmen Sandiego) and Reed Duncan.
Emmy Award-winning writer Joe Purdy (Arthur, Hey Arnold!) is on-board as the head writer and Disney alum Ruben Aquino (Frozen, The Lion King, Aladdin, Mulan) as the series' art director.
The show itself is based on the award-winning book series by author and illustrator Anna Dewdney. The preschool books are about childhood experiences, as well as the familial connection between, main character, Llama and his relatives (including Garner's maternal character).
