Tuca & Bertie will not be returning for a second season. Netflix announced the animated series about "relatable, fly AF" bird women has been cancelled after just one season on the streaming service.

Netflix released a statement regarding the show's cancellation:

“Lisa Hanawalt created a relatable yet whimsical world in Tuca & Bertie. We’re grateful to Lisa, and her fellow executive producers Raphael Bob-Waksberg, Noel Bright, Steven A. Cohen, and EPs/stars Tiffany Haddish and Ali Wong, along with all of the writers and animators for sharing the funny and dynamic female bird duo of Tuca and Bertie with the world. While Tuca & Bertie won’t have a second season, we’re proud to feature this story on Netflix for years to come.”

The cancellation comes despite perfect reviews from critics. Tuca & Bertie sits at 100% on Rotten Tomatoes from 29 critics, and a 70% audience score. The animated series starred Tiffany Haddish (Tuca) and Ali Wong (Bertie) and featured guest performers Nicole Byer, Richard E. Grant, John Early, Reggie Watts, Tig Notaro, Amber Ruffin, Jermaine Fowler and Tessa Thompson among others.

The series was created by Lisa Hanawalt, who also served as designer and producer on BoJack Horseman.
