Two years ago, Amazon ordered an animated series adaptation of Robert Kirkman's popular comic series, Invincible. This week, the streaming service dropped the first teaser trailer for the original series, which is geared towards adults.
Invincible follows teenager Mark Grayson (Steven Yeun), son of Nolan Grayson/Omni-Man (J.K. Simmons), most powerful superhero on the planet, as he begins to develop powers of his own. The teaser sees the father-son duo playing a special game of catch as Nolan offers Mark some words of advice and helps him harness his powers. It then jumps into a montage of action sequences as Grayson, who goes by the superhero alter ego Invincible, does battle with various villains. The teaser concludes with a focus on Monster Girl.
While the trailer doesn't necessarily reflect this, the synopsis hints of an underlying plot about how Omni-Man's legacy "may not be as heroic as it seems."
