Just over a year ago, iconic actor Adam West sadly passed away at the age of 88. Though West was mostly known for his portrayal of Batman in the 1960s television series, one of his other notable roles was that of the mayor of Quahog in Family Guy - the mayor being Adam West himself.
Family Guy showrunners Rich Appel and Alec Sulkin recently discussed the upcoming season with Deadline. Appel revealed that they have a tribute episode planned - which will debut during the upcoming seventeenth season.
We’re going to have a big episode which says a proper farewell to Adam West who obviously was a huge part of our town. He was the mayor, he played Mayor Adam West, and as a person and as a character, he was as original a comic voice as you could imagine and such a collaborative and sweet man, honestly.
So we wanted to commemorate him, and there’s a full episode about how we honor him and say goodbye to him.
The show similarly said farewell to one of its iconic guest stars last season - that being Carrie Fisher. The actress lent her voice throughout multiple seasons, in the role of Peter's boss, and the sixteenth season in particular paid homage to Fisher's character, Angela.
The YouTube channel Animation on FOX released a similar video last year which paid homage to West. Check it out below:
On a lighter note, the showrunners went onto reveal more intriguing info about the upcoming season - Sulkin adding that Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston will be joining the cast.
Bryan Cranston is now a cast member on the go as Peter's new boss. It's great to have such an amazing actor.
Appel also teased an episode which focuses on the Korean Olympics in which two well-known athletes will be voicing themselves.
We also doing a Korean Olympics episode where we have Tara Lipinski and Johnny Weir playing themselves, which I think will be fun.
What do you think about the showrunners' comments? Are you looking forward to the seventeenth season of Family Guy?
