One of the longest-running franchises in the history of has been BBC's Doctor Who. Since the beginning, Doctor Who tells the story of the Doctor, an alien who travels time and space with his human companions and encounters various creatures and aliens.

Since the character has been around since the 60s, dozens of episodes have been lost to time (since the BBC used to throw away past episodes to make space in their archives). Two of those episodes from Patrick Troughton's time as the second Doctor have recently been found and plan to be brought back to life in animated form!

While multiple copies of The Evil of the Daleks and The Abominable Snowmen have been lost to the world, only one of each episode has been found along with audio records and pictures. These resources will be used to create an animated retelling of one of the 97 lost episodes of the Doctor's tenure.

While there is not a set date for the release of these episodes, they can be expected sometime next year. We would love to hear your thoughts on this exciting bit of historical news in the comments below!

Doctor Who chronicled the adventures of an eccentric time-traveling scientist from the remote planet Gallifrey, home of the Time Lords. The Doctor, a Time Lord himself, traveled through time and space in his unique craft, the TARDIS, an acronym for Time and Relative Dimensions in Space.

The Evil of the Daleks and The Abominable Snowmen will be released in animated fashion sometime in 2021!
