Disney will be introducing their first princess of Jewish heritage later this year. The character is yet to be named but we know that she will feature in an upcoming episode of Disney Junior's Elena of Avalor.

In December, an episode of the popular children's series will focus on the holiday of Hanukkah and introduce the Latina-Jewish princess. Former star of The Sorpranos, Jamie-Lynn Sigler recently took to social media to reveal that she will be the voice of the forthcoming character.

The news came courtesy of Walt Disney Television Animation News — you can check out their tweet below. Sigler showed her enthusiasm for the role in her tweet (@JamieLSigler), stating as follows: "I am so excited to voice Disney's first Jewish princess."

Following this, one of the writers of Elena of Avalor took to Twitter to voice their enthusiasm for the episode. "A little over a year ago, I had the honor of writing an Elena of Avalor episode featuring Disney's first Jewish princess. [Jamie-Lynn Sigler] knocks the role out of the park (wait 'til you hear her song!) and [Craig Gerber] directs it masterfully. Can't wait to share this one!"
