WarnerMedia has announced that all twenty-three seasons of
South Park will be coming to HBO Max in June of next year — shortly after the streaming service itself launches in May. As well as well as the 300+ episodes that have already debuted, it's said that any new ones that air on Comedy Central will be available to watch on HBO Max with 24 hours.
Kevin Reilly, chief content officer, HBO Max and president of TBS, TNT, and truTV, had this to say about the AT&T-owned streaming service securing the rights to the popular animated comedy show:
“South Park is unequivocally among the best — setting the satirical gold standard, with a consistent finger on the comedy pulse. Audiences have connected with Stan, Kyle, Cartman, and Kenny – either alive or dead – for over 20 years, and we look forward to connecting these characters to new audiences on HBO Max.”
Financial details and terms of the agreement with Viacom and
South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have not been officially discolsed by AT&T. However, a recent report by
Variety indicates that the streaming rights cost between $500 million and $550 million.
The irreverent series will almost certainly be pulled from the Disney-owned Hulu streaming service at some point before its arrival on HBO Max in June.
