On the 42nd anniversary of Elvis Presley's death, Netflix announced a new animated series that will imagine a world in which the King of Rock and Roll also served as a secret agent for the United States government.
Titled Agent King, the adult animated comedy action series sees
"Elvis Presley trade in his white jumpsuit for a jet pack when he is covertly inducted into a secret government spy program to help battle the dark forces that threaten the country he loves — all while holding down his day job as the King Of Rock And Roll."
Elvis may be seen holding a gun in the accompanying image, but everyone knows it's his deadly hip shakes that cause the serious damage. Or perhaps he could bash a few villains over the head with his guitar.
“From the time Elvis was a young boy he always dreamed of being the superhero fighting crime and saving the world! Agent King lets him do just that,” said Priscilla Presley (via
Variety), who was married to Elvis from 1967 to 1973.
“My co-creator John Eddie and I are so excited to be working with Netflix and Sony Animation on this amazing project and getting the chance to show the world an Elvis they haven’t seen before.”
Agent King is created by Priscilla Presley and rock legend John Eddie, both also serving as executive producers.
Archer alum Mike Arnold will serve as showrunner, writer, and co-executive producer. Fletcher Moules will serve as supervising director and co-executive producer. Authentic Brands Group, Sony Pictures Animation, and Sony Pictures Television are also partners on the show.
No premiere date has been announced yet.
