X-MEN '97 Gets Promising Release Update As Marvel Studios' Long-Term Plans For Series Are Revealed

It doesn't sound like X-Men '97 will be among the Marvel Studios TV shows pushed into 2024, while you may be surprised to learn how long the X-Men: The Animated Series revival will run for on Disney+...

X-Men: The Animated Series debuted in 1992 and ran for a total of 76 episodes. The show was a hit with comic book fans and delivered a near-perfect take on the mutant team that still resonates today.

Marvel Studios is revisiting the franchise in the upcoming Disney+ revival X-Men '97, with most of the original cast returning to pick up where the series left off. Needless to say, excitement for this one is rapidly building but with some MCU TV shows reportedly being pushed into 2024, will X-Men '97 be delayed as well?

According to Head Writer Beau DeMayo, no. He recently took to social media to make it clear nothing has changed with the series, so we can clearly still look forward to seeing this one hit the streaming service later this year.

Recently, Wolverine voice actor Cal Dodd also confirmed he's already working on season 2 of X-Men '97, and one insider claims the plan is for the show to run for a total of 4! That's very exciting news and suggests the X-Men: The Animated Series follow-up will remain on our screens for the foreseeable future.

What we don't know is how many episodes each season will consist of, but we're hoping for at least 8 - 10!

The X-Men will eventually be rebooted for live-action, of course, and X-Men '97 seems like a great way to familiarise many fans with the team before they join the MCU. After all, Fox's movies are quickly becoming a distant memory and, outside of a few exceptions, are best off forgotten.

Check out DeMayo's Tweets below and keep checking back here for X-Men '97 updates.
