Puss in Boots: The Last Wish debuted in cinemas at the very end of last year to rave reviews, near unanimous acclaim, and now it's available to stream on Netflix. In the United States, at least, you can boot up the streaming service to watch DreamWorks Animation's latest (providing you're subscribed, of course).

It's a sequel to the similarly titled Puss in Boots animated film from 2011 and based on the character from the Shrek films, most notable Shrek 2, though Puss in Boots: The Last Wish is perfectly comprehensible without having seen the prior instalments should you not have. It stars Antonio Banderas as the voice of the titular feline, Salma Hayek as his accomplice, Kitty Softpaws, Florence Pugh as Goldilocks (yes, Goldilocks), John Mulaney as the nefarious Jack Horner, and more well-known names.

Most of all, the animated film was praised for its stylised art style similar to that of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and DreamWorks' own Bad Guys. Not to mention, a surprisingly affecting story inspired by Spaghetti Western films like The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. The tenth highest-grossing film of 2022, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish was nominated for the Best Animated Feature award at the Oscars and received many more revered nominations from the likes of the Golden Globes.

Suffice it to say, the people love it. Never has it been more evident that Puss in Boots: The Last Wish is a smash hit than its arrival on Netflix where it has quickly become the #1 film on the service, beating the likes of Bird Box Barcelona, fellow stylised animated feature Nimona, The Out-Laws, 65, and more. Be sure to check it out if you're a Netflix subscriber and haven't seen it already!
