With Netflix taking a much more active approach in handling their animated features, there has been a steady stream of new original features coming from the streaming service. From Klaus to the more recent release of The Willoughbys, the service has proven to be a contender in animation to be one of the greats.
The latest project, Over the Moon, which is the directorial debut of Glen Keane (a Disney animator who has worked on Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, and more) the film tells the story of a young girl who, after losing her mother, travels to the moon to prove the existence of a moon Goddess, from there she gets a lot more than she expected.
Ahead of its October release, Netflix released a brand new trailer that helps establish the film in more of an adventurous tone, helping balance its more mature themes of loss and coping. With striking visuals from Pearl Studios, Over the Moon is shaping up to be another knockout.
There is still some time before the release of the film to check out some of Netlfix's other hits as well! We would love to hear your thoughts on the new movie, and don't forget to share your thoughts in the trailer!
Over the Moon follows a young girl named Fei Fei who is coping with the loss of her mother. Determined to prove that the legend of the Moon Goddess is real, Fei Fei builds a rocket to travel to the moon. When she lands, she finds a whole wacky world full of alien creatures and a Moon Goddess who’s less ethereal being and more extraterrestrial pop star.
Over the Moon will premiere on Netflix on October 23rd!
