Season 4 of Netflix's F is for Family premiered on June 12 and fans have had a bit of a lengthy wait for news of its renewal. A little over three months later, Netflix has confirmed that they've renewed the animated series for a fifth season that will also be its last.
The animated series premiered in December 18, 2015 and is the brainchild of comedian Bill Burr and Simpsons writer Michael Price. Vince Vaughn's Wild West Television produced the show. Since 2015, Netflix has released 36 episodes across 4 seasons.
"Thank you to all the fans that watched this show. Thanks to Vince Vaughn, Peter Billingsley Victoria Vaughn, Ted Sarandos and all the INCREDIBLE writers, performers, animators, editors and musicians that made this show happen," said Burr on Thursday. He continued, "Special thanks to the Captain of the Ship: The great Mike Price! I love all you guys!"
Michael Price added, "Working on this show with the great Bill Burr, Vince Vaughn, and our amazing cast, writers, producers and crew has been the greatest joy of my life, and I’m thrilled that we get to do one more season with the Murphys."
Fans of the show have taken to social media to express their joy about the news of a renewal and simultaneous anguish to learn that the show is ending. Still, most are thankful that the show will be able to go out on its own terms instead of ending on a cliffhanger.
F Is For Family follows the Murphy family in the 1970s, a time when you could smack your kid, smoke inside and bring a gun to the airport. Burr will voice the role of Frank Murphy, the family's extreme patriarch; Laura Dern is Frank's wife Sue; and Justin Long is the family's oldest son, Kevin.
