Netflix announced that the third volume of episodes for Love Death + Robots will release on May 20, almost one year from when the streaming service dropped Volume 2. Netflix shared a brief teaser for the upcoming season, pulling a fun bait and switch that sees a typical boring promo for a Netflix series get cut off by the extreme footage from Love Death + Robots.

For those unfamiliar with Love Death + Robots, it's an anthology series comprised of animated stories (some NSFW) spanning fantasy, horror and science fiction genres. Each animated short varies in tone and visual style but are loosely brought together under the thematic elements of, well, love, death, and robots. It was revealed last year that one of the episodes in Season 3 was made using Epic Games' Unreal Engine, which is normally associated with video game.

The teaser doesn't spoil too much of the upcoming slate of episodes, as it mixes in footage from the previous two volumes. Interestingly, it looks like some of Volume 3's episodes could revisit some previous characters we've seen. For instance, it looks like the three robots from season one are back and it seems they've got a little feline companion.

Love Death + Robots returns for some extreme animation on Netflix on May 20. There were previous reports that Volume 3 will consist of eight episodes, but Netflix has not offered any specific details or titles.
