Earlier this week, Netflix released the official teaser for its upcoming animated series Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous.
From DreamWorks Animation, the series follows a group of teenagers attending a new adventure camp on the dino island. What begins as an adventure of a lifetime quickly becomes a nightmare scenario as the dinosaurs -- you guessed it -- escape from their cages and wreak havoc upon the island.
The series seems to have all the same intense, adrenaline-inducing moments experience in the film franchise. While the series is said to be more light-hearted in tone than the movies, the trailer for Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous seems very much geared towards at least older children. Stranded on the island, the series will show how the campers working together and become a close-knit family to survive.
Seeing as how Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous is set on the same island as Jurassic World, it's possible that the series could see some familiar faces from the film franchise pop up. The series runs concurrently with the events of the fourth film.
Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous follows a group of six teenagers chosen for a once-in-a-lifetime experience at a new adventure camp on the opposite side of Isla Nublar. But when dinosaurs wreak havoc across the island, the campers are stranded. Unable to reach the outside world, they’ll need to go from strangers to friends to family if they’re going to survive.
Original Jurassic Park director Steven Spielberg executive produced Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous, along with industry industry legend Frank Marshall and Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow. The series will premiere on Netflix on September 18.
