At long last, Riot Games has finally delivered the first teaser for Arcane Season 2. And what a tease it is.
Although the trailer features just over 40 seconds of actual footage, what it shows will have fans buzzing with excitement as it seemingly confirms a popular theory involving the late Vander.
For those who need a refresher, Vander, the adoptive father of both Vi and Jinx (Powder), who was tragically killed in the first season of the series. Or so the show would have you believe.
Fans have their own theory, speculating that Vander might actually be Warwick before he was transformed by Singed's experiments. Warwick is a werewolf-like monstrous creature in League of Legends who was "transformed by agonizing experiments."
There are clues both in the animated series and in the video game that hint the two might be one and the same. However, this teaser is the biggest hint to date, and just about confirms the theory.
If Vander is indeed Warwick then the beastly creature will almost certainly play a pivotal role in Season 2, and it should be interesting to see how the uncaged wrath of Zaun will impact the war between the utopian city Piltover and its oppressed underbelly Zaun. Not to mention, we don't know how Vi or Jinx will react if they find out what has happened to Vander at the hands of Singed.
Unfortunately, we do have a bit of a wait until we get to see the drama unfold on screen. Arcane Season 2 isn't set to arrive on Netflix until November 2024.
For those unfamiliar with Arcane's source material, it's based on Riot's popular multiplayer online battle arena game League of Legends. Using the lore from the video game, series co-creators Christian Linke and Alex Yee have crafted an origin story of two League of Legends characters, Jinx (Ella Purnell) -- also known as Powder -- and Vi (Hailee Steinfeld) while also showing the rivalry between Piltover and Zaun.
Other characters from the video game were also featured in the series, including Caitlyn (Elsa Davoine), Ekko (Reed Shannon), Jayce (Kevin Alejandro), Singed (Brett Tucker), Heimerdinger (Mick Wingert), and Viktor (Harry Lloyd). Most of these characters should return for Season 2 with hopefully a few newcomers as well. The series also introduced a few new characters, including Silco, who was eventually added to Teamfight Tactics, an auto chess spin-off of League of Legends.
