There has been a slew of adapations of the cautionary folktales written up by the Brothers Grimm throughout the years, but it now seems Netflix wants in. A Tale Dark & Grimm fills that void. Premiered earlier this month, it features Hansel and Gretel as they seek to find better parents that won't chop their heads off.
The animated comedy features three ravens acting as its narrators overseeing the exploits the two find themselves in as they come across witches, warlocks, the actual devil himself, and dragons. Considering this is a light-hearted comedy series, the show will show how the two can take control of their own paths and their own destinies.
In terms of crew, former DreamWorks vet, Simon Otto, takes the charge as its executive producer and supervising director. His most notable work was playing a role in the animation department in all three How to Train Your Dragon films. David Henrie, James Henrie, Bug Hall, Bob Higgins, Jon Rutherford, and Doug Langdale are also taking up exec producing roles.
In terms of voice talent, Vampirina's Raini Rodriguez stars as Gretel with The Loud House's Andre Robinson taking up Hansel. A Tale Dark & Grimm also features the likes of Big Hero 6 star, Scott Adsit, Trolls' Ron Funches, La Vie en Rhodes' Erica Rhodes, Playmobil: The Movie's Adam Lambert, and more.
