Writer Chris Weitz Says The Script For Disney's Live-Action Pinocchio Film Is Still Being Developed
Disney's live-action adaptation have been in the news quite a lot lately, and the latest film in the spotlight is Pinocchio, as writer Chris Weitz provides an update on the project. Hit the jump for more.
Ever since it was reported that Paul King (Paddington) was set to direct Disney's live-action Pinocchio movie, we've heard very little about the project.
Fortunately, writer Chris Weitz, who is also attached to the movie as a producer, has provided an update on the Disney film in an interview with the folks at LRM, shedding some light on the state of the script and when shooting will begin
“It’s going to shoot in England and Italy starting next year." Weitz told the site "We’re still in the early stages of, you know, development and developing the script, so there’s no casting to talk about, but I’m very excited about it.”
In short, there's still a fair amount of time until production on Pinocchio begins, but it looks like development is progressing quite smoothly. That said, it's sounds like the film won't start shooting until next year rather than this fall, which is when production was expected to begin.
Pinocchio is just one of many live-action adaptations in the works at Disney. The others include the likes of Mulan, Aladdin, The Lion King and Lady and the Tramp
