The upcoming fourth instalment in the beloved
Toy Story animated film series will soar at the box office according to a new report by
Deadline. It's said that Disney-Pixar will earn $260 million worldwide from
Toy Story 4's opening weekend. This sum has been amounted to with the inclusion of a $160 million domestic opening and $100 million from elsewhere.
According to the report, some box office experts believe that the upcoming sequel could make $200 million domestically. This would bump up the overall amount from $260 million to a massive $300 million.
Whether or not the film accomplishes that feat, it with certainly pass its predecessor,
Toy Story 3, which earned $110.31 million during its opening weekend. Topping the third instalment,
Toy Story 4 is basically guaranteed to have the biggest opening weekend in the franchise. Even if it only made $260 million, that amount would be a larger opening weekend that every other instalment's debut combined.
Pixar's biggest opening, outside of the
Toy Story franchise, was
Incredibles 2 which made $235.88 million and $1.24 billion overall. We'll see whether
Toy Story 4 will top that overall worldwide run, but it will almost certainly make more from its opening.
Woody has always been confident about his place in the world and that his priority is taking care of his kid, whether that’s Andy or Bonnie. But when Bonnie adds a reluctant new toy called “Forky” to her room, a road trip adventure alongside old and new friends will show Woody how big the world can be for a toy.
Toy Story 4 is set to arrive in theatres on June 21st, 2019.
