LIGHTYEAR
Release date: June 17, 2022

Lightyear is a 2022 American computer-animated science fiction action-adventure film that is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. The film was produced by Pixar Animation Studios.   It is a spin-off of the Toy Story film series and serves as an origin story for the fictional test pilot/astronaut character that served as the inspiration for the Buzz Lightyear toy/action figure that was featured in the main films.

Lightyear is both an epic science fiction action-adventure film and the definitive origin story of Buzz Lightyear, the hero who inspired the toy. The film follows the legendary Space Ranger after he and his commander and crew are marooned on a hostile planet 4.2 million light-years from Earth. As Buzz searches for a route back home through space and time, he is accompanied by a group of determined recruits and his endearing robot companion cat, Sox. Sox happens to be a robot. The imposing presence of Zurg, who is accompanied by a legion of ruthless robots and has some kind of sinister plan, has arrived, which complicates things and puts the mission in jeopardy.

It is scheduled to be made available in theaters across the United States on June 17, 2022, and will be presented in RealD 3D, 4DX, Dolby Cinema, and IMAX formats respectively. It will be the very first Pixar movie to be shown in IMAX theaters.

MINIONS: THE RISE OF GRU
Release date: July 1, 2022

Minions: The Rise of Gru is an upcoming American computer-animated action comedy film that was produced by Illumination and distributed by Universal Pictures in 2022. The film is also known as Minions 2. It is the fifth film in the Despicable Me franchise and the sequel to the spin-off prequel Minions (2015). Overall, it is the fifth installment in the Despicable Me series.

Gru, now 12 years old and living in the suburbs, is shown to be growing up after the events of the first movie, which takes place in the 1970s. Gru, a supporter of a group of supervillains known as the Vicious 6, comes up with a scheme to corrupt himself to the point where he can join them. Gru applies to join the Vicious 6 after Wild Knuckles, their former leader and a legendary fighter, is removed from his position as leader of the group.
Things do not go well, and actually get worse after Gru steals an extravagant stone from them with the help of Kevin, Stuart, Bob, Otto, and the other Minions. He then finds himself unexpectedly in the position of being the mortal enemy of the most evil being in the world. While on the run, Gru and the Minions seek advice from the unlikeliest of sources: Wild Knuckles himself, and they learn that even villains require assistance from their allies from time to time.

Universal Pictures has announced the theatrical release of the film titled "Minions: The Rise of Gru" will take place in the United States on July 1, 2022.

Thinking of taking my 4-year-old daughter to see Minions. She's obsessed with them but I've yet to try an actual movie theater experience with her.
