The upcoming remake of, the iconic horror movie,
Child's Play will be releasing in June along with the fourth instalment in the
Toy Story franchise. Those marketing the former production evidently noticed the near release dates and similarities between the two franchises as they've released a poster which directly parodies its opposition.
During the early days of
Toy Story 4's production, Disney-Pixar released a couple of dour character posters which featured the likes of Woody, Buzz, Bo Peep, etc. It's one of these posters which
Child's Play has made infinitely more traumatising. In Woody's poster, we see the iconic cowboy stood upright, tipping his hat. In this new
Child's Play poster, we see the same hat, held onto by the severed arm of a toy. Chucky himself can be seen fleeing the crime-scene, dragging a trail of blood behind him.
Though the arm is red in the
Child's Play poster, going off of the checkered sleeve and similar backdrop, you can clearly see the intention was to parody the
Toy Story poster. We'll just have to wait and see which one of these toy-centric movies fares better upon release.
Check out the posters below:
Synopsis: Woody has always been confident about his place in the world and that his priority is taking care of his kid, whether that’s Andy or Bonnie. But when Bonnie adds a reluctant new toy called “Forky” to her room, a road trip adventure alongside old and new friends will show Woody how big the world can be for a toy.
Toy Story 4 will be releasing in theatres on June 21st, 2019.
