SUPER MARIO BROS Animated Film Reveals Release Date

Nintendo's upcoming animated film inspired by the most popular plumber, Super Mario Bros, has announced its release date. Here is more information on the movie.

Studio Illuminati's upcoming animated movie Super Mario Bros. has a 2022 release date with no specific month yet. The movie was given this rough time frame during Nintendo's financial results briefing for last year. The release date was shared by Nintendo's president Shuntaro Furukawa.

The movie will be produced by Chris Meledandri, the founder and CEO at Illumination and Shigeru Miyamoto, the Representative Director. The film will be set in the Super Mario Bros. world starring Mario Mario and will be financed by Universal Pictures as well as Nintendo and will be distributed by Universal Pictures.

The first Super Mario Bros. film was a live-action adaptation that launched back in 1993 with direction from Annabel Jankel and Rocky Morton. Parker Bennett, Tery Runte and Ed Solomon wrote the script. The film was nominated for a Best Costumes and Best Makeup category in the Saturn Awards.
