Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse arrived in theatres exactly one year ago. The animated film was a massive success, both at the box office as well as critically — it even went as far as to win the Academy Award for "Best Animated Feature."
It, therefore, comes as no suprise that there's a sequel in the works. Last month, it was
announced that the follow-up will arrive in theatres on April 8th, 2022 — unfortunately, that's a bit of a long wait.
Renowned directors, and the producers of
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller recently took to social media to celebrate the first anniversary of their acclaimed animated film. In seperate tweets, the creatives praise the crew that brought Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse to life — as well as each other.
Firstly, Miller recounts that they essentially realised that they had a smash hit on their hands right from the commencement of production. Lord points out one of his favourite things about
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse — that being that the hard work of every crew member is evident.
"Thanks to the hundreds who put so much passion into making this film," said Miller.
"It was so hard, but even early on there was a sense it could be something special. One crewmember told me mid-production: “I haven’t felt this way since I was working on the CG for Jurassic Park.” Y’all did it!"
"The coolest thing about this movie is how you can see the hands of all the filmmakers who worked on it," Lord wrote in his tweet.
"All 800 of them. ¡Gracias, Bravo y Felicidades a todos!" You can check out all of the relevant tweets below.
