Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse released in theatres back in December and has since earned universal acclaim and made absolute bank. It even won the Academy Award for "Best Animated Feature". So naturally, a sequel is of course in the works.
Though multiple follow-ups and spinoffs were previously announced, such as one starring Hailee Steinfeld's Spider-Woman, Amy Pascal recently reiterated the fact during an interview with
io9.
The Sony producer provided a little bit of an update on the status of the sequel, stating that they're working hard on it:
“We are definitely hard at work on the sequel. You can expect another movie.”
We've got no idea what the follow-up would feature, it featuring the multiverse quite literally means that the possibilities are endless.
The first
Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse movie starred Shameik Moore as Miles Morales, a teen who's bitten by a radioactive spider and imbued with its abilites. He's taught by a plethora of webslingers from other dimensions how to be and what it means to be Spider-Man.
Beyond Moore and Steinfeld, the cast also featured Jake Johnson as Peter Parker, John Mulaney as Spider-Ham, Nicolas Cage as Spider-Man Noir, Kimiko Glenn as Peni Parker, Bryan Tyree Henry as Jefferson Davis, and Liev Schrieber as Kingpin. It's highly likely that at least a couple of these names will return in the sequel.
