To many fans' dismay, Marvel Studios were unfortunately not at San Diego Comic-Con this year, but that doesn't negate other Marvel properties making their presence known - such as Sony's upcoming Venom film as well as the highly anticipated, animated feature Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
Following the SDCC Hall H panel dedicated to Into the Spider-Verse, Entertainment Weekly reported that three new actors have joined the star-studded cast. The upcoming animated film will reportedly feature Kimiko Glenn, Nicolas Cage and John Mulaney - each playing their own multiversal iteration of the world-famous webslinger.
Glenn is apparently playing Peni Parker, “a teenage girl with a robot named SP//dr." Cage, as previously confirmed, will bring a Noir-themed version of Spidey to the screen - who can more or less be summed up as Spider-Batman.
Mulaney, to much fan-adoration, will be playing Spider-Ham - which, as you might be able to guess from the name, is a pig imbued with spider-like abilities. Oh, and Spider-Ham's real name is Peter Porker - enjoy knowing that.
Here's what producer Phil Lord had to say on the topic of the dimension-hopping webslingers:
The Spider-Verse is basically all of these alternate ways of telling this story and all these different people that experience it. The thought of this movie was, what if those different stories intersect? How would it shake them up? What would happen if these people met?
What do you think about the new additions to the cast? Which version of Spidey are you looking forward to seeing on-screen the most? Why even ask that; it's obviously Spider-Ham.
