Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was released to overwhelmingly positive reviews in 2018 and, after becoming a box office hit, the animated movie later won an Oscar.

Needless to say, there's a huge amount of excitement for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, but a new rumour suggests the sequel faced some noteworthy issues behind the scenes. This news comes our way from The Town with Matthew Belloni, and the former Hollywood Reporter writer highlights a familiar problem.

"Well, it cost a lot more than the first one [Into the Spider-Verse] because they had a bunch of problems on this one," he explains, "and they scrapped a bunch of stuff and went back - it's Lord & Miller and they kind of write as they go..."

Phil Lord and Chris Miller's unique approach to filmmaking caused issues on the set of Solo: A Star Wars Story, prompting Lucasfilm to replace the duo with Ron Howard midway through production. While they aren't directing Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, they're heavily involved with the creative process; however, we aren't too concerned.

Remember, the movie was delayed, so that's likely giving Sony Pictures and the creative team enough time to iron out any lingering issues with Miles Morales' big screen return.

It was recently rumoured that Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will feature a huge live-action cameo, and you can find the spoilery details on that by clicking here

In Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, after reuniting with Gwen Stacy, Brooklyn’s full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is catapulted across the Multiverse, where he encounters a team of Spider-People charged with protecting its very existence.

However, when the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles finds himself pitted against the other Spiders and must redefine what it means to be a hero so he can save the people he loves most.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is set to be released in theaters on June 2, 2023!
