Tom Holland is thought to have signed a new deal that will see him return for Spider-Man 4 and Avengers: The Kang Dynasty (for starters). However, despite being part of the MCU, he’s still Sony’s Spider-Man…whether we like it or not!
While he’s yet to appear in a Venom movie (beyond a post-credits scene), it appears the stage is being set for Holland to make a cameo appearance in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. However, rather than lending his voice to an animated Variant, it sounds like he’ll show up in his live-action form!
As first reported on ComicBookMovie.com, The Hot Mic’s Jeff Sneider recently revealed, “I heard that part of the delay – because Across the Spider-Verse was delayed – was about getting Tom Holland in that movie, and that one of the dimensions that Miles could end up going to is a live-action dimension with Tom Holland.”
Unfortunately, this doesn’t mean we’ll see a live-action Miles Morales, with that web-slinger retaining his animated appearance.
Given how each of the different Spider-Heroes in the Spider-Verse boast unique animation styles from their respective realities, it makes sense that the MCU’s Spidey would show up in live-action. We’re sure it will only be a brief appearance, anyway, but one that highlights what sort of potential this reality-hopping franchise has.
In Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, after reuniting with Gwen Stacy, Brooklyn’s full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is catapulted across the Multiverse, where he encounters a team of Spider-People charged with protecting its very existence.
However, when the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles finds himself pitted against the other Spiders and must redefine what it means to be a hero so he can save the people he loves most.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is set to be released in theaters on June 2, 2023!
