Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse did not include any post-credits scenes (somewhat surprising after the first film), but it turns out Sony Pictures' animated sequel did originally feature a stinger until the decision was made to leave it out of the theatrical cut of the movie.

While speaking to Indiewire, producer Phil Lord explained that the scene was going to be set up by an earlier sequence with the villainous Spot trying to order a drink in a bar with several other Spider-Man baddies. He is unable to do so because nobody knows him, and leaves after being ridiculed.

“And then he finally steals the drink for himself and he pours it down and it all leaks out of his holes,” Lord said. “He’s the dorkiest villain. A great line that Chris wrote, though: ‘Trying to fill a hole in his heart with more holes.’ Not a great method.”

In the post-credits scene, Spot returns to the bar after gaining much more powerful abilities from the super-collider, and "dispatches" all of the other villains.

“That was one of my favorite things, seeing this guy get picked on and then come back and, with just a whisper, demolishes every person that comes at him,” adds Alan Hawkins, returning head of character animation. “But you have to have both of those sequences for that to work.”

Apparently, the animation for these scenes was never completed, so we probably won't get to see them on the eventual Blu-ray release.

In Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, after reuniting with Gwen Stacy, Brooklyn’s full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is catapulted across the Multiverse, where he encounters a team of Spider-People charged with protecting its very existence. However, when the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles finds himself pitted against the other Spiders and must redefine what it means to be a hero so he can save the people he loves most.

The confirmed voice cast includes Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, Oscar Isaac, Jake Johnson, Issa Rae, Jason Schwartzman, Daniel Kaluuya, Shea Whigham, Jorma Taccone, Luna Lauren Vélez, and Brian Tyree Henry.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is now playing in theaters worldwide
