While LeBron James is currently working towards his fourth NBA championship ring, there's another challenge that lies ahead. The King will be teaming up with the Looney Tunes in the upcoming Space Jam: A New Legacy, the sequel to Warner Bros.' 1996 film that originally starred Michael Jordan.
Via the LeBron James Family Foundation, we've now got our first sneak peek look at the uniform James will don in the film.
The reveal has been met with mixed reception. It's certainly a much louder, bolder look than the uniforms in the original film. It's also a different look than what was previously shown off earlier this year in January. The initial design seemed to resemble the original uniforms from the first film. This new one is clearly it's own thing, replacing the classic white and blue color scheme with a teal-ish blue and vibrant orange/red gradiant. Interestingly, James is seen wearing the number six which could be tribute to the number of championship rings Michael Jordan won in his career.
While the overarching theme of Space Jam: A New Legacy is an NBA star teaming up with the Looney Tunes to take on the Monstars in a game of basketball, specific plot details are still unknown. The film, written by Ryan Coogler and Sev Ohanian, is directed by Malcolm Lee (Night School). James will be joined by a number of high-profile NBA stars, including Klay Thompson, Anthony Davis, Damian Lillard, Chris Paul, Kyle Kuzma as well as NBA stars Diana Taurasi, Nneka Ogwumike, and Chiney Ogwumike. Marvel star Don Cheadle has also been cast as an unknown villain.
Space Jam: A New Legacy is scheduled to hit theaters in summer 2021.
