With
Toy Story 4 hitting theaters this week, Disney Pixar is already looking ahead to next summer. The studio announced today
Soul, a new original film set for release exactly one year from today.
Pixar posted a simple logo for the film along with a brief synopsis teasing an adventure that'll
"take you on a journey from the streets of New York City to the cosmic realms to discover the answers to life's most important questions."
A more official tagline, courtesy of Deadline, teases:
“Ever wonder where your passion, your dreams and your interests come from? What is it that makes you… YOU?”
Soul is being directed by two-time Oscar winner Pete Docter (Up, Inside Out) with Oscar nominee Dana Murray ("Lou" short) producing. It's set to hit theaters on June 19, 2020.
Soul will be the second original film released by Pixar in 2020. The studio gave us a
sneak peek at their other new animated adventure, Onward (starring Tom Holland Chris Pratt), which is opening on March 6 of next year.
