Paramount Pictures officially debuted the first trailer for their Sonic the Hedgehog movie earlier this year. Jim Carrey plays Dr. Robotnik, Ben Schwartz plays the titular speedster, and James Marsden plays Sonic's friend. People weren't pleased with the trailer nor the titular character's new look.

The director of Sonic the Hedgehog took to Twitter to announce that they would redo the character design and animate from scratch in order to please the fans. The film was delayed by multiple months on account of this.

Earlier this month, we got our first look at the character's redesign in the form of some leaked images. Sonic the Hedgehog will now feature a much more traditional character design — what with the return of the iconic white gloves, etc.

Though, there were many who didn't believe that the leaked images were legitimate as they simply surfaced online from a random Twitter user who claimed to have a friend that works for Paramount. To add credence to the images, another look at the design has surfaced online and this time it's emblazoned on a theatre standee (via Gamefragger).

Sonic the Hedgehog will now release in theatres on February 14th, 2019.
