Wonder Woman 1984 actress Gal Gadot revealed today that she will have a part in Disney Walt Disney Animation Studios' upcoming animated movie
Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2 - the sequel to sequel to 2012's comedy hit.
Gadot
announced her part in the film on Twitter, but offered a bit more context for her character when speaking to Entertainment Weekly. She'll play Shank, a "fierce" driver from the "intense and gritty" online racing game called
Slaughter Race. Ralph (John C. Reilly) and Vanellope (Sarah Silverman) meet Shank while on their journey through the internet in search for a replacement steering wheel for Vannellope's own classic arcade racing game,
Sugar Rush, which was featured prominently in the first movie.
“Shank is amazing at driving cars and has this bad-girl vibe to her. But as the movie goes on you realize how fun, wise and warm she really is on the inside, which is what I like most about her,” Gadot said about her character.
Shank isn't the only strong female character moviegoers will meet in
Ralph Breaks the Internet. Jane Lynch's tough-as-nails Sergeant Calhoun (from the game fictional game
Hero's Duty)
will return in the sequel. Additionally, Walt Disney Animation Studios is keen on showing that Disney's princesses are more than capable of taking care of themselves. In addition to the hilarious moment when Vanellope meets them -
which was briefly shown in the trailer -
a more recent image has been shared featuring the princesses dressed in much more comfortable attire than we're used to seeing them in. Clearly inspired by Vanellope's own comfy-casual look, the moment presumably aims to break the princess trope.
Ralph Breaks the Internet opens in theaters November 21. Meanwhile, comic book fans can catch Gadot reprising her role as Diana Prince in
Wonder Woman 1984 next year on November 1, 2019.
