Peter Rabbit arrived in theatres back in February of last year and starred James Corden as the titular animal. The cast also included Daisy Ridley, Margot Robbie, and Elizabeth Debicki as Cottontail, Flopsy, and Mopsy respectively. Both Rose Byrne and Domhnall Gleeson featured in the film physically — whilst the rest only provided their voices to animated characters.
The film was directed by Will Gluck and he'll reportedly be returning to helm the sequel (via
Deadline). It's also thought that the entire cast will reprise their roles for
Peter Rabbit 2.
Originally, the
Peter Rabbit sequel was to debut in theatres on February 7th, 2020 — that would've been almost precisely two years after the first installment. However, Sony Pictures has now pushed the sequel's release date back by a couple of months to April 3rd, 2020.
This appears to be a strategic move as it's only a week's time before Easter. Rabbits are particularly relevant during that holiday and the next James Bond film will be arriving in theatres over the Easter weekend. Therefore,
Peter Rabbit 2's new release date should give it some edge over that — not that their demographics overlap much if at all.
Peter Rabbit 2 is set to arrive in theatres on April 3rd, 2020.
