Back in June of 2016, Paramount Pictures acquired the rights to a film based on the popular children's series by the name of Clifford the Big Red Dog. Walter Becker (Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip, Old Dogs) is on-board to direct the film, whilst Justin Malen was hired to write its screenplay.
The Clifford the Big Red Dog movie will reportedly be a mixture of both live-action and animation and is produced by both Scholastic Entertainment as well as Paramount Animation. Interestingly, Paramount recently shuffled back the release date of a similar project, their upcoming Rugrats movie, from November 13th, 2020 to January 29th, 2021.
The Hollywood Reporter recently made it known that; it's Rugrats' original release date (November 13th, 2020) which Paramount has now dated as the theatrical debut of Clifford the Big Red Dog.
This isn't the first time however that Clifford has appeared on the big-screen. Based on children's books by Norman Birdwell, following a KIDS PBS animated series, Clifford's Really Big Movie released back in 2004. Amazon Prime Video are set to release a brand new animated series following the enormous mutt in Fall 2019. This will evidently be quite the resurgence for the currently cold brand.
The Clifford the Big Red Dog movie will release in theatres on November 13th, 2020.
