A few mysteries surrounding the film Detective Pikachu were resolved on Friday when the director Rob Letterman made a few announcements about the film during The Pokemon World Championships, which are currently being held in Nashville, Tennessee.
One of the announcements included the reveal of the official title of the film which, underwhelming, is actually Pokemon: Detective Pikachu. A tweet from the official Pokemon Twitter account confirms the announcement:
"Stop what you’re doing, Trainers: Mr. Ishihara just announced the title of the upcoming live-action Pokémon movie: POKÉMON Detective Pikachu! #DetectivePikachuMovie."
Letterman also gave the Pokemon fans in attendance a look at the official logo for the film, which can be seen below:
The attendees at the Pokemon World Championships were not only treated to the two reveals, but they were also given the opportunity to partake in some of the filming for the movie! A portion of the ending of the film, a battle scene, is currently being filmed at the Pokemon World Championships, so the lucky few that are actually attending the event will get the opportunity to play an extra for the film.
It was also revealed at the Pokemon World Championships that Justice Smith and Kathryn Newman, who were present at the event, will also be appearing in the film. They will be joining Ken Watanabe, Bill Nighy, Suki Waterhouse, and Chris Geere, who were previously announced as members of the cast.
