Pokemon the Movie: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution is a remake of the 1998 film Pokemon the Movie: Mewtwo Strikes Back but it will evidently be making some changes.

Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution is set to release in July. It'll serve as a CG remake of the afformentioned classic Pokemon movie, only this one will take place within the new canon of the franchise. That canon thus far includes: Pokemon the Movie: I Choose You! and Pokemon the Movie: The Power of Us.

You would expect there to be a few changes given that the new film has been made using 3D animation technology whereas the original was 2D. One of these changes is to Mewtwo's armour. Aesthetically, it looks almost entirely different, however, it will serve the same purpose as it did in the original: dampening Mewtwo's powers.

You can check out the original look here on Bulbapedia and take notice of the differences when compared to the new look, which you can see in the below promotional material (via @SerebiiNet):

Pokémon the Movie: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution is set to release in Japanese theatres on 12th July, 2019.
